Happy Birthday Cohen! Big 18!

Aloha!

Hey everyone! Thanks for all of the letters this week! They have helped a ton! This week went by so quickly, I swear P- Day was just yesterday. Last transfer with Elder Smith went by so slowly but this one with Elder Rodriguez has gone by too quickly! I'm nervous that we will be thrown another curveball in about 2 weeks and I will have to leave Manchester. I really want to get good at my Spanish so I can't leave!

But as for everything else, I am doing great. We are working hard and trying to get a lot of people to keep their commitments so they can gain their own testimony. It seems like people want us to try to convince them of what we teach but we are trying to get them to find out for themselves so it makes it difficult. We have been dropping a lot of "eternigators" and really trying hard to find new people who are searching for the gospel. This past week we just dropped one of our biggest investigators named Cassandra because she wouldn't make a solid commitment and was just trying to fight and argue with us on every little thing. So we told her that we had done all we could but now it was up to her and that we could no longer visit her until she came to church. It was rough but it had to be done and now we can focus more of our attention on others. We also lost our baptismal date with Eriberto so now we have to start over again. It's been a rough week but we haven't lost our faith!

As for us missionaries, we are doing great! Elder Rodriguez and I get along really well and have a lot of similarities. Also, the senior missionaries in our ward, the Franklin's, are finished with their mission and go home in a week from today. It stinks because they are super awesome and we had the hook ups with them and everything. They would take care of our packages and mail and any problems that we had. Elder Franklin even gave me 4 short sleeved shirts that he had never worn and they fit me perfectly! They are just so sweet so we are hoping that the new couple gets assigned here as well and that they are just as cool. The Franklin's are from Utah but I know there's a lot of members in Utah but if anyone knows them then they will understand how awesome they are. So we had a big ward dinner for them on Saturday and said our goodbyes and ate some awesome Dominican food. It was a great way to say goodbye.

So since yesterday was Cohen's 18th birthday I thought I would make special mention of him in this letter. Hey Cohen, it was your birthday. Also, I just wanted to express my gratitude for all of my friends and for the strength that they have given me. I have the best friends in the world and even though I may not act like I care, I do! So thank you, and thank you to all of you who have done so much to help me get here! You rock!

And speaking of birthdays, mine comes up at the beginning of next transfer. And since it is so close to transfers I would ask that those of you who want to send me something (and I know that there are a lot of you :) ) to please wait until after transfers so I can tell you where I am. I'm not expecting anything and I don't know if I need anything but if you want to be awesome and send me something I won't resist. But please just wait to send it until after I find out about transfers. Thanks!

I guess the only thing I can think of to ask for right now is for ties. I'm sure anything you send would be great but I can't think of anything... Wait! I thought of something! If there are any Spanish hymns or church music in Spanish that would be great. Preferably more upbeat but anything would be awesome! We have a Christmas CD of David Archuleta singing with MOTAB and he sings a song in Spanish (Los pastores a belen) and I love it! Also does anyone know where he will be serving yet? It better be here so I can train him (sorry I'm daydreaming right now). I did get the Spanish book this week (yeah!) so thanks Will! I have been studying it a ton. Now Elder Rodriguez and I can speak more Spanish to each other.

Oh, before I forget, if you can't get the pictures off of the memory card then you card then you can just send it back to me and I will just fill the whole thing with pictures and try to figure it out after my mission!

Well earlier this week we had Zone Conference and we got to go to the JSM! The bad part about it was that we didn't get to go stand by the monument or anything, we could only look at it as we drove by. I guess you have to bring investigators to actually go to it. But it was super cool to be so close to the Prophet's birthplace!

We also passed by the building where he had the surgery on his leg. Now it's a KFC/Taco Bell and I wanted to stop at it to eat and take pictures but there wasn't time. Next time we will! I just think it's super funny that they turned that building into a KFC. It makes it a nice little stop on the way to the JSM.

But as for Conference, it was awesome! President and Sister Wilkey rocked it like always and we focused on the message of the Restoration. It really put the whole story into a new perspective for me and strengthened my testimony of our message. So I encourage you all to reread the 1st Vision and to strengthen your testimony of it!

Make it a great week!
Nos Vemos!
Elder Resendez
